Karnataka Pushes for AIIMS Branch in Raichur: Dr. Patil Meets JP Nadda
New Delhi: Karnataka Medical Education Minister Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil met Union Health Minister JP Nadda in New Delhi on Friday, demanding the establishment of an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) branch in Raichur. The state government has been pressuring the Central Government to establish the premier health institute in Raichur district.
There is also a demand from the people of Hubballi-Dharwad to set up the institute in their area, as it would benefit 8-10 districts. The Dharwad district administration has identified and reserved the land required for the establishment of the institute. However, due to the lackluster approach of local elected representatives and Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, the demand for the premier health institute remains a distant dream.
Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil also requested JP Nadda to enhance the quota for NRIs in government medical colleges across the state.
